I guess I really died, because angels greeted me at the
top of Ebbetts!

A very friendly crowd greeted all the riders as we passed
through Markleeville on the way from Ebbetts to Carson Pass.
I think the Death Ride is the only thing that happens all year
in this town :-)
|
I passed by the starting point, so now I'm committed to
the long road up to the top of Carson Pass.
|
The day could have been much hotter, but fortunately
thunderclouds loomed overhead. Well, at least it's not
pouring rain (knock-on-wood)
|
Final rest stop before the top, and the clouds look mean.

|
Finally, the top!!! It's (almost) all downhill from here. The
rain finally did come down as I was descending Monitor Pass, but
by then it didn't matter much.

See Chad suffer! Stage 1: denial
|
Stage 2: acceptance
|
Stage 3: regret
|
Stage 4: despair
|
Father & son on the tandem! His youngest rode the first two
passes with him, and his older son rode passes 3 and 4. How cute!

Another father & son
|
Go mom!
|
No one has ever died on the Death Ride, but the dead
have ridden it!
